Airplay Netflix? How to Cast it to TV (iPhone/Mac/Any)

Let’s clarify. Netflix discontinued AirPlay support from its app a couple of years ago. The result is, the display, whether an Apple TV or any other AirPlay-compatible receiver using AirPlay for communication between the devices, will be rejected by the Netflix app as it detects stream requests via AirPlay. In common, you might get a black screen while the audio continues to play or see a "No devices found" message.

So, can you still cast Netflix with AirPlay? The answer is No and Yes.

  • No - if you cast it from iPhone to Apple TV.
  • Yes - if you AirPlay Netflix from Mac. There is still a way out.
