System & Recovery
Too much video recording files may make your device space stuffed. It’s time to delete them and free up the local storage.
The first question blocking in front is: where do screen recordings go on your device, like Macbook or Windows PCs.
The file location may vary depending on the tool used for recording. Jump to the one you use for a quick search.
If you use QuickTime Player to screen record, the video files are saved in Desktop by default.
Please noted that you cannot change the setting and there's no option to set a permanent default save folder. That is to say, you can always find the file in the desktop, as shown in the picture.
Besides, the QuickTime Player recording will temporarily saved in Library > ScreenRecordings. To visit the Library folder, you can:
a. Access Finder > Settings > tick mac by clicking the top menu bar.
b. Click View > Show view Options > tick Show Library Folder.
c. Go to the Finder panel > mac > Library > ScreenRecordings.
Now you can see the files and manage them.
As you press Shift + Command + 5, you can open the built-in the Screenshot app for screen recording. Samely, the recordings are saved to the desktop by default.
But if you have changed the location mannually, you can click "Options > Save to" to see the selected folder.
If you use a third-party screen recorder on Mac, you can check its Settings menu to find the output folder.
Take Kingshiper Screen Recorder as an example.
a. Go to Settings > File Path.
b. Open User/mac/Movies/Kingshiperlpmac
Or, you can click My Files > Open file loaction.
Many Mac users use OBS for screen recording. If you're one of them, follow these steps to find your files.
a. Go to OBS > Settings > Output > Recording.
b. The videos are automatically save to /User/mac/Movies.
Alternatively, you can click File in the top menu bar, and then choose "Show Recordings."
To delete recordings on Mac:
As you find the file, right-click and then select Move to Trash.
If you use Xbox Game Bar for screen recording, find the file in: C:\Users\admin\Videos\Captures.
The typical default path is: C:\Users\admin\Videos\Screen Recordings
You can find the path in Perferences > Output > Output Folder if you use Kingshiper.
Or, go to Videos > File Location.
To delete recordings:
The file can be deleted from its location in the file system or directly within the application.
